They were manufacturers of earthenware at the Dresden Works at an area named Tinkersclough in Hanley, Stoke on Trent. From 1944 the business was renamed Lancaster & Sandland when Sandland became a partner in the company. The company went into voluntary liquidation

The item is stamped underneath Johnson Bros

The manufacture was bought by Augustin Novotny in 1824

the Primula pattern was released in both green and yellow versions

all with a beaded handle design and 6 faux bone handle knives from different cutlers

The gold trim on the items are faded due to age and the open sugar bowl has a visible hairline halfway down from the rim

Patterns of the early 1930s echo those developed at Grays – bold floral motifs

Each item is stamped underneath: Made in England

Harrison Brothers & Howson opened its London showrooms at 11 Hatton Garden (1866) and 43-44 Holborn Viaduct (1885)

aside from which this plate is in excellent condition

but differently stamped

All the plates however is still in very usable condition
