Oddero, Barolo Brunate 2018 BirthdayIn order to show the 2018 vintage to best advantage, the Odderos decided to blend the fruit from most of their individual vineyards into a single, very impressive 'basic' Barolo. The fruit from two of their vineyards, however, merited the usual vinification into a cru wineone of them was the Brunate parcel, one of the best sites in Barolo. Always a standout wine, the Oddero 2018 Barolo Brunate is a complete wine, and I use that word specifically

with four different reds and two different whites making up the half dozen

and supple tannins that shape a long finish

The medium-bodied palate has fantastic tension and fine-grained tannins framing the tightly wound red fruit and savory layers

a fine bead of acidity

Alsace Grand Cru is the appellation for the finest wines from the fifty-odd grand cru vineyards in Alsace

Has a good sense of weight and drive

mineral fino sherry and a sweet Moscatel wine is more than delicious enough to be served on its own over ice
