Jean Noel Gagnard, Batard Montrachet Vintage:2009(from a . 3 ha parcel of 30+ year old vines on the Chassagne side, situated just below Montrachet, 7 barrels are usually produced). This is backward, tight and not revealing much aromatically beyond pure white flower and spice aromas though the rich, full and strikingly powerful flavors possess superb depth of dry extract and huge length on the detailed, focused and penetrating finish. This is a potentially great Btard as everything necessary is here

in fact it’s borderline massive and not surprisingly it’s going to need a very long time to arrive at its full potential

The wine shows great integration of the oak

This is at once fresher and cooler with its airy nose of intensely floral-suffused aromas of red and dark raspberry

backward and firmly structured effort will need at least 6 to 8 years to add flesh and complexity and will likely require fully 15+ years to reveal its full potential

Really solid wine that is drinking well today

This is close to its peak

pear and a whiff of tangerine peel combine to serve as a pretty introduction to the round

This too is very good and should age effortlessly

I would drink this outstanding champagne for its own merits

which I think remains one of his best wines to day

even at the first sniff of the bouquet
